Owner Spied on Carmelo: Knicks' Jim Dolan Hired Men to Record Carmelo Anthony
Knicks owner Jim Dolan allegedly set up recording devices at Friday's game against Chicago in an attempt to spy on Carmelo Anthony, according to reports.
While the reason behind the ploy has not been revealed, reports have stated that team owner Jim Dolan was attempting to spy on Melo Friday night. Dolan allegedly set up parabola microphones and directed to audio technicians to try and catch Anthony's every last word.
"These guys had one directive from Dolan: Record every syllable Carmelo Anthony utters and absorbs while he's on the court and on the bench, the Madison Square Garden CEO ordered them," according to NJ.com, "and send the tape directly to me."
While it is uncertain why Dolan was interested in listening in on Anthony's on court and off court exchanges, some speculated that recording may have something to do Melo's not-so-mellow reaction to Kevin Garnett- the outburst earned the small forward a 1-game suspension.
Anthony also had his own confession on Sunday while addressing his feeling sluggish over the past couple weeks: he admitted he had been on a 15-day fast.
"It's a long story. I haven't had a good meal in about 2 1/2 weeks. No meats, no carbs, anything like that," Anthony told a Newsday reporter.
The poor diet may have been taken a toll on Anthony's performance and the team's performance in general. Since the beginning of 2013, the Knicks have gone 3-4, with two of those wins coming from lower-tiered teams on the NBA.
"I don't know how I was going through competing at a high level. Just sometimes these past three, four games where the body just feels depleted out there and just trying to find a way to get energy," the player added.
Although with a drooping team record, some fans might suggest that he wasn't "going through" the past few games at all. Sunday's win against the Hornets offered a brief glimpse of hope, and it's one that fans hope will continue now that he is done depriving himself of food.
"I usually do it sometimes just to get some clarity in my life. Spiritual reasons," Anthony explained adding, "I'm done now. I can't do it no more."
