Pablo Sandoval Sexual Assault Accusations Investigated by Police
San Francisco Giants' Pablo Sandoval is being investigated by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department for an alleged sexual assault incident.
Deputy Sheriff April Skalland has said, "No charges have been filed. He was not arrested. He was not detained. He was interviewed with his lawyer present, and he cooperated," according to AP.
An attorney for Sandoval has confirmed that the baseball star met with police regarding a "consensual" sexual encounter he had on Friday.
Sandoval's lawyer Eric Geffon issued the following statement, "On Friday, June 1, Pablo Sandoval voluntarily met with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department related to a consensual, personal relationship of a sexual nature that took place earlier that day. Pablo fully cooperated with the Sheriff's Department. Out of respect for the process, we have no further comment at this time."
Sandoval was also contacted later in the day, and he told AP, "He (Sandoval's attorney) made a statement. I cannot talk about those things. I'm just concentrating on my game and getting back to the team right now."
Sandoval is currently batting .316 with five home runs and 15 RBI this year. The Venezuelan is also nicknamed Kung Fu Panda. He was born left handed, but did not want to have to play outfield all his career, and so taught himself to throw right handed as well. He can still throw with both hands, but throws right handed during games.
