Palau Visits Capital in Preparation of DC Festival
Preparations for the DC Festival with Luis Palau intensified this past week as the world evangelist visited the nation's capital for a non-stop round of interviews, speaking engagements, and meetings with key business, church, and political leaders.
"For years, weve dreamed of one day sharing the Good News in the city that represents freedom to the world," Palau told a gathering of business and professional leaders.
Though Palau's four decades of ministry have taken him to over 70 countries, the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association reports that bringing his "Great music! Good News!" festival to Washington will be special for the evangelist.
"We want this city and the nation to know that the true pursuit of happiness comes in following Jesus Christ," Palau said.
Highlights of the week included a visit with Chief of Naval Operations Vern Clark and with U.S. Senate Chaplain Barry Black. Palau also spoke at Western Theological Seminary, New Samaritan Baptist Church, and St. John's Lafayette Square Parish House, home church of President Bush.
Media interviews included national outlets such as Time Magazine, Mission Network News, and United News and Information, and with Christian radio's WAVA FM.
The DC Festival, which will be held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., is slated for October 2005.
The LPEA reports that Palau plans to return to D.C. in February for events surrounding the National Day of Prayer.
