Palladinos' New Deal With Amazon Makes Season 2 of 'Gilmore Girls' Revival Possible

Fans of the show "Gilmore Girls" were elated when the series was revived last year after a decade of being off the air. Now that it has already concluded, many wonder if there could be a second revival season for the popular title.

New reports suggest that despite the lack of updates about the future of the "Gilmore Girls" franchise, a second installment of "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" might actually be on the table. The Palladinos' new deal with Amazon reportedly has a clause that makes it possible for them to come back to Netflix for a sophomore season of the revival.

Last year, "Gilmore Girls" made a huge comeback with "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life," which picked up years after the events in the previous installment. It saw Alexis Bledel's Rory as an adult and followed her as she returned to Stars Hollow during a problematic period in her life. The revival series ended on a cliffhanger, when Rory told Lauren Graham's Lorelai that she was pregnant.

After the revival series wrapped, Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino inked a new multi-year deal with Amazon Studios for the development of a show titled "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," causing fans to worry that this might prevent them from developing a "Gilmore Girls" continuation.

In a recent report, however, TVLine noted that the contract had an "out" clause that allowed them to go back to Netflix anytime to spearhead a follow-up to "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life." Although that does not guarantee that a second season may be on the table, it makes it possible despite the lack of official word from the Palladinos.

As of now, the creators of the series have not yet confirmed if the show's revival would return for a second season. However, there are speculations that if it happens, it may focus on Rory's pregnancy and the discovery of who the father of her unborn child is.
