Paris Saint-Germain vs Lyon Live Stream: Watch French Super Cup Football Online
This marks the beginning of Ligue 1.
As the football season in Europe begins, Ligue 1 powerhouses collide as Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais meet at Stade Saputo for the French Super Cup. Today's match takes place on August 1, 2015 at 3:00 PM ET, and can be watched online through live stream (details below).
This battle will offically open the season in France, and will be the first competitive game in the country of the new season; it will feature two of the most popular teams in France.
Lyon finished second in the league last year, only falling behind to PSG. They are certainly looking to start the season right with a win over their rivals and lift the first trophy of the season.
It has been a tough summer for the team so far as they took part in five matches ahead of the Super Cup meeting – and they have only unfortunately won one match.
Things have been tough so far as they only scored two goals in those five matches, a 2-1 win over AC Milan.
However, those are only exhibition matches and should not be a measurement on how Lyon will be in the coming season.
As players are only coming back from the break, the previous exhibition matches were made for them to return to fitness, but expect them to be firing on all cylinders today when they clash against PSG in the Super Cup.
On the other hand, PSG are coming off an impressive season where they won four titles in France.
They also proved that they belong with the elite of Europe as they reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League last season.
Certainly looking to improve on last year's performance, expect PSG to continue challenging for titles in their own country and move forward even further in European competition.
They also had a very busy summer as they played six exhibition matches through the summer.
Also taking part in the International Champions Cup against other big clubs from Europe, PSG held their own and proved why they are considered one of the best teams in the continent.
They beat teams like Benfica, Fiorentina and Manchester United, while only losing to English Premier League champions Chelsea via a penalty shootout.
Now that the season is back on, expect PSG to try and continue their dominance in the league, and they will look to defend their Super Cup title to take the first trophy of the season.
