Pastor Ed Young Jr. Interviews Quarterback Tony Romo; Poses 'The Quarterback Question' to Congregation
The man didn't recognize Jesus as his quarterback, Pastor Young added. "He was quarterbacking his own life." Jesus realized that money ran the show in his life. After the quarterback question, "the man walked off the field."
"Whose running your show … who's calling the shots … who's the quarterback?" the megachurch pastor asked the congregation. "Your quarterback is either yourself or Christ."
The man didn't understand that salvation is something we have to believe and accept, something we don't deserve, Young said, adding that the man thought salvation was to be earned on his own.

Jesus has to be our quarterback in all things, or He's not our quarterback at all, the pastor explained. "He wants it all because He wants us to discover what it means to push the ball downfield."
Four things happen when we make Jesus our quarterback, Young said.
One, we are part of a great team, he said, giving the example of the 11 disciples of Christ – excluding Judas Iscariot – who "changed the world."
Two, we play our position. Pastor Young said his first job was as an accountant in a travel agency, and it was horrible "because I was out of my position." If you think you're out of your position, you have a wrong quarterback, he told the listeners.
Three, we understand the game plan to true victory. Just like in a football game, we are under attack from the opponent. The devil has a strategy to ruin our marriage, our future, the pastor explained. But Jesus is our quarterback, and we can listen to Him and follow Him, which is our best defense, he explained.
Four, we will win. It's not easy, but God wants us to win in life, he said.
"Don't let Tony Romo play center," Pastor Young said in conclusion. "It's not going to work."
