Patrick Dempsey Racing Documentary to Air Tonight
Tonight at 10 p.m. The Discovery Channel will air the first installation of a four part documentary on actor Patrick Dempsey. But no the documentary does not focus on the actor's most famous role on ABC's medical drama "Grey's Anatomy," nor does it focus on acting at all. In fact, the documentary focuses on Dempsey's other pursuit: car racing.
The documentary, titled "Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans" follows the actor and car racing enthusiast through his attempts to race in the 2013 Le Mans.
"Racing is my true passion, and taking on Le Mans [is] the biggest challenge of my life so far. Le Mans pushes both driver and machine to the absolute brink, testing focus, skill and endurance unlike any other event in the world. Just getting to Le Mans is almost as challenging as the race itself. This project reflects a 360-degree view of the entire race process -- including all the ups and downs along the way," the actor said, according to AutoWeek.com.

In a recent interview with Today, Dempsey compared his two passions, acting and racing.
"Work on a TV show doesn't change. In a race, it changes constantly, every lap, every corner, every moment of that day. And that's very exciting. And it keeps me alive. And then I can go back to work and enjoy it," Dempsey said.
The first episode of "Patrick Dempsey: Racing Le Mans" will air on both the Discovery Channel and Velocity tonight at 10 p.m. However, the remaining three episodes will only be aired on Velocity.
