Pattie Mallette Calls Encourages Twitter Followers to Pray for TMZ After Mariah Carey Scrutiny
Pattie Mallette, the mother of famed singer Justin Bieber, is calling for prayer for the often controversial entertainment website TMZ.
Mallette, the 39-year-old author, took advantage of her large Twitter following by telling over 3 million fans to pray for TMZ. After the media source chose to highlight "major" issues with singer Mariah Carey's voice while she is rumored to being going through a divorce, Mallette spoke out.
"Wow, @TMZ really?? That's just mean," Mallette tweeted. "Didn't your mama teach you better than to pick on others? You're a role model, teach compassion! #GenerationChange #HumiliatingSomeoneIsntNews."
When another headline was posted, poking fun of Carey's vocals, Mallette continued to speak up.
"@TMZ again? REALLY? You gotta kick em while they're down huh," she questioned. "You're better than that, I choose to believe in you. #BeAnExample."
After a fan joined with Mallette in expressing outrage at TMZ's style of reporting, Bieber's mother called for prayer.
"Let's operate in the opposite spirit and love them and pray for them instead. #HumansArentBulletProof," she wrote.
During the exchange, some questioned why Mallette did not publicly stand up for her son on Twiitter when TMZ wrote negative things about him.
"I have to restrain myself. Trust me I am picking my battles," she replied."I hate reading stuff about him too TRUST ME."
Mallette and Bieber have both been vocal about their Christian faith throughout the years. However, Bieber has been the subject of numerous media headlines that have alleged violent behavior, issues with substance abuse and a mental breakdown.
Still, Mallette has always remained supportive of her son amid media scrutiny.
"I pray for him," Mallette told E! News last year. "I encourage him."
