'Person of Interest' Season 5 Spoilers: Is it the End of the Road for Shaw and Root
"Person of Interest" season 5 may have been confirmed for spring on CBS, but it may mark the end of Shaw and Root's romance.
CBS Entertainment President Glen Geller had already confirmed at the Television Critics Association that "Person of Interest" season 5 will not be canceled. Although he is hoping that the series will air this spring, there are still rumors that the upcoming installment will be the last one for the series, according to Movie News Guide.
Geller said they ordered 13 episodes for "Person of Interest" season 5, the report adds.
Executive producer J J Abrams had earlier said that "Person of Interest" was already on its final stages. His comment hints that the finale is being crafted as a series ender. He said the CBS series may no longer be renewed after this year, the International Business Times AU reports.
However, Abrams admitted that he is heartbroken over the possibility that the series still has a big story to offer if it were to be renewed. In his interview with Cinema Blend, he commended Jonah Nolan and Greg Plageman for their great work on the television show.
Meanwhile, lead characters Shaw (Sarah Shahi) and Root (Amy Acker) are reportedly set for a big hurdle in their romance. Root will have a hard time deciding between Shaw and the Machine. Acker teased that her character will find both very important. Still, she is confident that the story will end on a happy note, the report relays.
"That's been a struggle because they are both priorities to her. At the end of last year, she ultimately had to decide that if she didn't do everything to save the Machine, there's no purpose to saving Shaw," said Acker. "Let's Kill Ward's Wife."
As of now, there is still no confirmed air date for "Person of Interest" season 5. More details on the CBS series are expected to be announced in the next couple of months.
