'Person of Interest' Season 5 News: Final Season of the Series
With the upcoming season of "Person of Interest" expected to air in a couple of months, it was revealed that it might be the final season of the series.
After four seasons, it was revealed that CBS had renewed "Person of Interest" for only 13 more episodes. The previous season had more episodes, holding an average of 20 episodes per season. With that, the bittersweet renewal has fans waiting anxiously to see their favorite characters once again.
One of the series' stars, Michael Emerson, who plays the role of Harold Finch, explained that even though there has yet to be any details revealed about the upcoming season, he believes that the series is already beginning to end. Emerson explained that the writers of the series have become more concerned about producing a quality finale. He said that they hope to remain ambiguous so that there is still a way to revive the show for another season, if possible.
According to Collider, he stated, "I don't think they could have gotten away with just ending it with us going out into a hail of bullets with the Machine in a briefcase. I think there would have been a human cry about that."
However, it was revealed that the ending of the series is likely since the previous season had received unsatisfactory ratings. This also puts the series in danger of being canceled. There are speculations that this is why the upcoming season of the series only has 13 episodes.
Nevertheless, star of the series Jim Cavielzel expressed his appreciation to the fans and those who support the series. As reported by Entertinament Weekly, he stated, "You are the ones who keep this show afloat... and I'm reminded from your question how much I love my castmates. This has been the greatest team, whatever we have left for this show."
