Persona 5 PS4, PS3 Release Date Coming 2015? Fifth Shin Megami Tensei to Use Specially Built Game Engine
The fifth main title to the "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona" series, "Persona 5," has no specific release date but is set to come out on 2015 in Japan and in North America. Furthermore, the title will only come out on the PlayStation 3 and Playstation 4.
The plot for the game is still unknown but the game's director, Katsura Hashino, has stated that the game's central theme will be freedom and how the game's characters will attain it.
Hashino was only confirmed to have been given full development responsibility in 2012, and this was after his work with another Atlus title "Catherine." "Catherine" had used a third-party game engine but "Persona 5" will be using a specially built-in game engine.
A trailer for the title was unvieled during the recent pre-Tokyo Game Show Sony Press Conference and it featured a new male protagonist. Also in the video were the participation of character designer Shigenori Soejima and composer Shoji Meguro.
Although the game has been in development since 2010, the development is taking a slow pace despite it using its own game engine.
The game was first announced in 2013 via a teaser trailer alongside the spin-offs "Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth," "Persona 4: Dancing All Night," and "Persona 4 Arena Ultimax" even though rumors of its development could be traced back as early as 2009.
The "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona" franchise is a series of role-playing games by Atlus. The series usually revolves around a group of teenagers who are thrown into a conflict like mysterious murders or paranormal activity.
The teenagers can summon avatars of their psyche, known as Personas, which they use to fight against the various enemies in the game.
