PETA Slams Beyoncé for Wearing Iguana and Python Skin During Super Bowl Performance

Beyonce is the focus of outrage from animal rights advocates after she performed during halftime at the Super Bowl wearing an outfit made from various animals hides.

The 31-year-old entertainer was draped in a black bodysuit for the halftime show which was designed by fashion designer Rubin Singer. The getup contained leather, paneled iguana and python skin as materials used to create the provocative ensemble, according to The New York Times.

When news of Beyonce's clothes became public, animal rights advocates from the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), released a statement chastising the singer for using animal skins.

"We would take a bet that if Beyoncé watched our video exposes, she'd probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits or other animals who died painfully. Today's fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyoncé's Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score," PETA lamented in a statement.

But Beyonce's outfit was not the only action to draw criticism, as many viewers noticed Beyonce make a hand gesture that has been linked to the secret organization known as the Illuminati.

Beyonce threw up the disputed hand gesture when she was performing her hit song with Destiny's Child's other two members, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

As the trio was belting out the tunes to the group's big hit "Independent Women," Beyonce quickly threw up a triangular hand symbol known to many to be the All-Seeing Eye or Eye of Providence. But the sign is also used by her husband's Roc-A-Fella Record company, which is well known for their "rock" hand symbol.

Other reports ridiculed conspiracy theorists who suggested Beyonce would be part of the infamous secret society.

"The Illuminati are a tiny, super-secret cabal of influential individuals who have shaped the course of world events," wrote Jay Busbee of Shutdown Corner. "So it makes perfect sense that Beyonce would flash their triangle sign to one of the largest viewing audiences in human history. What better way to preserve a secret?"

108.41 million tuned in to watch the game, with roughly 104 million staying put to watch Beyonce perform, according to Nielsen.
