Peter Parker Death? Spider-Man Killed by Dr. Octopus in Latest Twist (VIDEO)
Peter Parker's death will controversially mark the 700th issue of the "Amazing Spider-Man" comic book on Wednesday, in a latest twist that has left fans stunned.
The geeky teenager, Peter Parker, who becomes Spider-Man when he dons the famous red and blue suit, will finally meet his match and succumb to one of his biggest arch-enemies in the latest edition of the popular comic that hit stores this week.
In the landmark 700th issue, Parker will lose in a massive battle with evil villein Doctor Octopus.
However, the death of Peter Parker will spark an extraordinary storyline for the legacy of Spider-Man to continue. Apparently, Dr. Octopus, after taking down Spider-Man, has a deep revelation about life, and realizes the amazing good that his enemy had brought to the world.
Having swapped his own mind into Peter Parker's body, he decides to take on a new life fulfilling the mission of Spider-Man. So the amazing twist is the Dr. Octopus essentially becomes Spider-Man - realizing that with great power comes great responsibility.
According to Marvel writer, Dan Slott, speaking to USA Today: "This is Moriarty in the head of Sherlock. This is Prince John inside of Robin Hood. This is the greatest villain inside the body of the greatest hero and trying to do good. This is a guy who was a couple steps way from a bucket list, and now he's got a whole new lease on life. That's really going to change him."
Slott has also said to CNN: "For all intents and purposes, [Otto Octavius, who became the evil Doc Ock] was the adult Peter could have become, Spider-Man's dark reflection."
He added: "So what if we flipped it? What if we gave him a second chance? Peter's final, heroic act was giving Doc all the memories and experiences that kept him on the right path. But is that enough? Can that overcome Ock's true nature?"
The franchise will now take a more dark and sinister twist, and the "Amazing" will be dropped out, and "Superior Spider-Man" will be born in a big reboot of the long-time comic.
However, those who do not like the idea of Dr. Octopus becoming Peter Parker, and want their original back, they can still hope and wait, as nothing is impossible in comics.
In many scenarios across the comic book genre, superheroes or villains have been killed off only to come back to life and return thanks to some amazing miracle or twist in the storyline. But for now, Peter Parker is set to die and be killed off by the evil Dr Octopus.
