Philadelphia 76ers NBA Trade and Roster Rumors: Sixers Asking for Second-Round Picks for Jahlil Okafor

A few days ago, Jahlil Okafor finally admitted that he had asked the Philadelphia 76ers to trade him or buy out his contract if they couldn't find a team that is willing to meet their asking price.

However, a buyout isn't an option for the team right now because they want to get something in return for the former third overall pick. That's why he is still sitting on the Sixers' bench wasting away. Interestingly, the Sixers are actually willing to let him go for a reasonable price.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers are asking for future second-round draft picks in exchange for Okafor. That's way below his perceived market value.

Well, that's not really much of a return for a player who entered the league with a reputation as a gifted low-post scorer. But they can't expect to get much since the center's trade value is very low right now.

In fact, every team in the league already knows that he's on his way out of Philadelphia so they are just waiting for the Sixers to grow desperate and buy him out. Aside from that, teams are also wary of his flaws on the defensive end of the floor and his limited offensive range.

Meanwhile, Wojnarowski has also noted that the Sixers may have to wait for the Phoenix Suns to trade guard Eric Bledsoe before they can move Okafor because most teams don't have room on the roster to absorb the center right now.

"Several teams have shown interest in Okafor as a reclamation project, and league sources said that the aftermath of a possible Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe trade could trigger the freeing of a roster spot or salary cap space for a team to absorb Okafor. The Suns have been monitoring Okafor's circumstance with the 76ers, and a Bledsoe deal could create the moving parts around the league necessary for Okafor to be relocated," Wojnarowski said in his report.
