Both teams have played a game each in the preseason and expect both to try and get wins this time around.
The Sixers played their first game of the preseason against the Washington Wizards and they fell behind in the third quarter to eventually lose 129-95.
At the half, the game was still relatively close as the Wizards only had a two-point lead but a 38-18 third quarter blew the game wide open.
There were still positives in the loss as Jahlil Okafor impressed in his first NBA game of the season – scoring 12 points and shooting 60% from the field while playing only 17 minutes.
Nerlens Noel and Isaiah Canaan both had 13 in the losing effort as their development continues.
On the other hand, the Cavaliers met East rivals Atlanta Hawks in a replay of the Eastern Conference Finals.
It was a close game for the most part of the match-up, with Atlanta making a run in the second quarter only to be answered by the Cavs in the third – but the result went in favour of the Hawks 98-96.
JR Smith was the Cavs' best player with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists.
LeBron James struggled from the field and went 3-of-13 to finish with eight points, seven rebounds and five assists for the game.
It is unsure if James will feature against the Sixers, but the young Philadelphia squad should continue to try their best regardless of the personnel they will face.
