Phoenix Suns Place Guard Eric Bledsoe on Trading Block After He Tweeted He Wants Out
Eric Bledsoe has likely played his last game in a Phoenix Suns uniform.
The eight-year pro courted controversy on Sunday when he tweeted "I [don't] wanna be here" about an hour before the Suns announced the firing of head coach Earl Watson just three games into the season.
Amusingly, Bledsoe would claim that he was talking about being in a hair salon when he made the tweet, but Suns general manager Ryan McDonough wasn't going to fall for such a flimsy excuse and he said the veteran guard would not be with the team going forward.
Bledsoe was sent home from practice on Monday morning and he did not play in their game against the Sacramento Kings later that day.
According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM, Bledsoe had already requested for a trade before the start of the season, so the Suns already knew that they have a disgruntled player on their roster.
"I had talked with Eric about an hour before that tweet. This is not about the firing of Earl Watson. Bledsoe actually spoke with management before the season about being traded. He's ready. He doesn't want to be here anymore. That was not about Earl being fired," Gambadoro said. "I think Bledsoe liked Earl," he added.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski has also reported that the Suns have started fielding offers for Bledsoe.
A handful of teams already expressed their interest in acquiring the guard and the list of suitors will continue in the coming days. According to the New York Times' Marc Stein, the Milwaukee Bucks are among the teams that have reached out to the Suns, and ESPN's Ian Begley has reported that the New York Knicks are also in the mix.
The Los Angeles Clippers and the Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly interested in Bledsoe as well, per Sam Amico of Amico Hoops.
