Pink Floyd Releases Remastered Hits

Pink Floyd has re-released their classic 1979 album with "The Wall - Experience Version" on Tuesday.

The six-CD, one-DVD box set contains Pink Floyd's remastered original and live albums, and features two discs of never-released demos.

Pink Floyd fans can buy the set, in stores Tuesday, for $120. A three-CD "Experience" package is also available for $28. The set follows last year's "Immersion" and "Experience" editions of the band's other masterpieces, "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish You Were Here."

The English rock band originally consisted of Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Richard Wright, and Syd Barrett. Guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour joined the group in 1967, before Barrett's departure due to mental health problems.

The loss of Barrett resulted in Pink Floyd's bassist and vocalist Roger Waters becoming the band's lyricist and leader. It was then that their concept albums "The Dark Side of the Moon," "Wish You Were Here," "Animals," and "The Wall" were released.

First released almost 33 years ago, Pink Floyd's classic "The Wall" demonstrated Walters as a songwriter and lyricist. The remastered album offers Pink Floyd as "you never imagined you would hear them," reported the U.K.'s Telegraph.

The band's progressive and psychedelic rock music swept the globe, having sold over 230 million albums worldwide. Their work is marked by the use of philosophical lyrics, innovative album art, and lavish live shows. Pink Floyd was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

On Twitter, Pink Floyd fans expressed their reactions to the remastered album. "Listening to some early demos of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and completely bugging'…" wrote Joe. Twitter user Viriathe wrote, "@PinkFloyd in this moment I'm listening to echoes, my favorite piece of Pink Floyd."

Despite Wright and Walters departures from Pink Floyd, Gilmour and Mason continued to record and tour in the 80's. Legal battles ensued, and the band did not reunite until 2005 for a single performance at a charity concert.

Wright died three years after the brief reunion. Surviving members Waters, Gilmour, and Mason joined once again for one of Waters' "The Wall Tour" shows in London in 2011.
