'Pitch Perfect 2' Released First Official Trailer, Bellas Go to World Acapella Competition (VIDEO)

Next year will mark the return of The Barden Bellas as they sing their way to acapella history in "Pitch Perfect 2," the sequel to 2012's surprise hit movie. The official trailer of the film has just been released yesterday and it has already garnered more than 6 million views on YouTube.

Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson once again star in the film, reprising their roles as Beca and Fat Amy. While the first film followed how Beca, Fat Amy, and other new members of The Barden Bellas broke from tradition to win the finals of the national acapella singing competition, the sequel focuses on the girls as they go beyond the nationals and aim for "world domination" at a global competition.

In the trailer, it is revealed that the Barden Bellas are in for a real challenge as director Elizabeth Banks, who also plays commentator Gail Abernathy, tells the girls that "Every four years, the best around the globe compete for world domination … And no American team has ever won!"

"That's because they hate us," says co-commentator John Smith, played by John Michael Higgins.

"The whole world!" she adds.

"The whole world hates us," Smith chuckles.

Clearly, the Bellas are about to face some tough competition, but new Bellas Hailee Steinfeld ("True Grit") and Chrissie Fit ("Teen Beach Movie") are up to the challenge.

Fit spilled some details about the new film. Of the rivalry between the Treblemakers and the Bellas, Fit told Hollywood Life "You know what, there is not as much of a rivalry between them as there was in the first one, but they are there and they are so amazing."

"There is music from the past, present and future … Everything is bigger, better, more hilarious," she added.

"Pitch Perfect 2" premieres on May 15, 2015.
