Pittsburgh Penguins NHL Trade Rumors: Marc-André Fleury Has to Decide Whether to Stay or Go

When people hear Marc-André Fleury's name they automatically think of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Fans will have a hard picturing him in another uniform, but there's a legitimate chance he may get traded in the next few days. Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford has repeatedly said he wants to keep Fleury, but the goaltender knows that he may have to leave at some point and he'll have to make a decision in the next few days.

According to Penguins beat writer Jason Mackey, Fleury is looking forward to having a conversation with Rutherford and he wants to sit down and hear "what he has to say, what he thinks, which way the team wants to go."

Fleury also told LNH.com's Robert Laflamme that he wants to talk with Rutherford first before he comes up with a decision.

"I'll see what he has to say and I'll see after that. At first, it was tough to accept [that I might have to leave]. But the longer it goes, I've been telling myself I'm not the only one that has to go through this and whatever happens, happens," he said, according to NHL.com.

Meanwhile, Rutherford said the decision to move Fleury would probably come down to the final 48 hours of the trade deadline, so things would probably get interesting in the next few days. Fleury has a limited no-movement clause and no-trade clause in his contract and this allows him to list 18 teams he wants to be traded to. If Fleury asks to be traded after their meeting, Rutherford will try to move him to one of the teams on his list.

Fleury is the Penguins longest-tenured player. He has been with the team for his entire career, but he is no longer the team's top goalie. If he wants to start and play heavy minutes, he may have that with another team.
