'Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2' Launches with 12 New Maps
Popcap Vancouver recently released a brand-new trailer for its upcoming shooter game, "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2." The latest video showcases a dozen maps that will be available to players upon launch.
"Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" producer Kyle Duncan unveiled the new trailer (below) at Sony's PlayStation Blog last week. Duncan says the new maps will allow players to explore the new "PvZGW2" world, including Suburbia and beyond.
"One of our key development goals for Garden Warfare 2 was to allow players to immerse themselves in the world of Plants vs. Zombies like never before," Duncan said. "We wanted players to experience what has happened since Dr. Zomboss turned the tide of the battle with the help of that pesky little Imp from the future and his mighty Z-Mech."
Aside from supporting the game's 24-player mode, each of the new maps is filled with secrets and easter eggs. The full list of the new maps is as follows:
- Zomburbia
- Great White North
- Zen Peak
- Boney Island
- Lunar Landing
- Sandy Sands
- Colizeum
- Time Park
- ZTech Factory
- Frosty Creek
- Moon Base Z
- Seeds of Time
The new maps provide unique locations ranging from the snow-covered Great White North and Frosty Creek to the desolate Boney Islands. Sandy Sands and Colizeum take players to past, while Lunar Landing and Moon Base Z take players to futuristic settings. Zen Peak is a Japanese-inspired village complete with pagodas and cherry blossoms, and of course, Zomburbia is the new name of zombified Suburbia.
The trailer below offers fans sneak peeks at what these new maps look like.
In addition to the new maps and 24-player game mode, "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" also introduces six new characters and new zombie classes. "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" will be available to PC, PS4, and Xbox One owners starting Tuesday, Feb. 23.
