Player Collapses at Practice: Utah State Player Stops Breathing, Rushed to Hospital
A player has collapsed at practice on the Utah State basketball team on Tuesday. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition after suffering what doctors have since described simply as a serious medical condition.
The player, Danny Berger, is a shooting guard at Utah State. He collapsed and lost consciousness, according to The Associated Press, and at one point stopped breathing.
The incident sparked panic among the team's players and coaches, and as soon as he collapsed USU athletic training staff rushed in and administered CPR as well as an automated external defibrillator (AED), according to the Deseret News.

Emergency services were called and a hospital rushed him to the Logan Regional Hospital. He was later flown by emergency helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
The cause of the player's collapse has still not been determined, and doctors at Intermountain Medical Center have said they are still conducting various tests and evaluating his condition.
Jess Gomez, a spokesman for Intermountain Medical Center, has said on Wednesday morning that Berger was still in a critical condition.
Reports have confirmed that Berger is a junior from Oregon and is in his second year with the team. Prior to the incident the player was averaging 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds, and had played in all five of the team's games this season so far.
When the emergency took place Berger was taking part in the team's final practice before their on the road game against BYU.
However, following the emergency the team canceled the game.
