Player, Skydiver Collide on Baseball Field: Watch Player Get Wiped Out (VIDEO)

Accustomed to keeping his eye on fly balls, what short stop Mattingly Romanin wasn't prepared for was a flying person in the form of a skydiver.

The incident occurred while the Missouri based player was on the baseball field with the rest of his team, the Hannibal Cavemen of the summer Prospect League. Field activities had planned for three skydivers to deliver the first pitch at Saturday's game against the Terre Haute Rex.

But the special occasion went awry when one of the skydivers misjudged his landing. Instead of landing in the free space allotted, the diver headed straight into Romanin, kicking him in the face and knocking him to the ground. The shortstop player was left in shock.

"Still in disbelief that actually happened," Romanin wrote on his Twitter account. Doctors rushed to the seen to see if the player was okay. The skydiver was able to jump up immediately and apologize for the incident. Despite an injury to his eye, Romanin appeared to be in good health and said on Twitter that he "played all 9 that night."

But that didn't stop the player and his friends from joking about the incident the next day.

"Ahaha they told us not to move and they wont hit us... guess not," Romanin wrote. "I feel like i got kicked in the face yesterday, oh wait...."

"Today I saw one of the most unreal events I could imagine and it happened within 3 ft of me," one of the player's friends, Jerod Smith, said.

Numerous people showed concern for Romanin but despite waking up with a headache and a stiff neck, he said, "I'm alright."

Unfortunately for Romanin however, while his body will survive, his sunglasses did not.

"Now only if my oakleys had survived too," he added in one Twitter post.
