'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' News: On the 20,000 Negative Reviews and the Release Date for PS4
"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" was hit by numerous negative reviews over the weekend. Furthermore, it seems that the game has plans of extending its Xbox One exclusivity.
Developed by Bluehole Studio, "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" is expected to be one of the best game titles to be released this year. The gaming community welcomed it with positive reviews and increased sales, which resulted in over 13 million copies sold, thereby breaking several records in the process. The recent influx of negative reviews baffled the gaming community.
According to reports, "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" is the latest victim to review bombings on the Steam website. Last month, the website introduced a histogram feature that would illustrate how some reviews came from users who logged in long enough to submit a negative review before logging out. Since the weekend, the webpage of "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" has received more than 20,000 negative reviews.
The outrages reviews seem to be stemming from an advertisement for a Chinese virtual private network (VPN) service. It has been circulating on the critically acclaimed game title's home page. Bluehole has yet to respond to requests for comment, but fans are expecting to hear some details in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, PlayStation 4 users might lament due to recent rumors that indicate that "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" might be extending their Xbox One exclusivity. Sources reached out to Bloomberg, and they said that the agreement will be extending for an unspecified duration of time. There is no news as to when PlayStation 4 users will be getting the chance to experience the game on their consoles, and Microsoft does not seem to want to disseminate information.
"Right now, the team is solely focused on bringing the best game possible to Xbox One and PC. We have nothing further to announce at this time," a Microsoft spokesperson said.
"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" is now available for Xbox One and Windows PC.
