PlayStation 5 News: Features To Include AMD Chipset and Streaming?

Sony isn't your ordinary company, especially when it comes to providing the best gaming experience to its fanbase, and with the news that the fifth-generation PlayStation will be packed with an improved chipset, players just may find the long wait worth it after all.

It has been two years since the fourth PlayStation console was released, and while many fans are still hooked on the gaming experience brought about by the PS4, Sony might be thinking of giving its global fanbase the console that beats the rest.

With Microsoft working on virtual reality, it seems Sony isn't allowing to be second in line after all. It is yet unclear if the company will decide to replace the controllers with a more technological device, but rumor has it that 4K graphics and VR will be integrated in the console.

Neurogadget also reports that just like Microsoft, Sony may be planning to use the AMD chipset in the PlayStation 5. AMD chipsets promise to be much powerful than the AMD APU seen in the PS4. If the rumor turns out to be true, players will experience 4K and VR gaming in a much better state than what the previous models offer.

However, if Sony decides to incorporate the new AMD chipset in the PS5, it could also mean that gamers won't get a hold of the new console anytime in the next two years as reports indicate that such technologies will only be available to man before the decade ends, which is the year 2020.

Meanwhile, another rumor is hot in the gaming world these days. The rumor says the upcoming gaming console may totally eradicate the controller and set, and will only offer streamed games. This means players will just need their PCs — no need to buy any other device such as the PS5.

On the other hand, Matt Pellet, current editor of the official PlayStation Magazine, gave Tech Radar a logical explanation that slammed the rumor. "If there's no actual console, what do the developers target and what do they develop on and how does Sony make its money?" Pellet asked.

This could only mean that Sony is still looking to provide a physical console whether it turns out to be the PlayStation 5 or a new console that leaves the world of controllers behind.
