'Pokémon Go' Festive Pikachu Spawn Rate: Trainers Complain About Not Seeing Party Hat Pikachu
The promise of "Pokemon Go" creators to feature a Festive Pikachu or Party Hat Pikachu might just have been an empty promise. On Feb. 24, the "Pokemon Go" team announced that they are throwing a little party in the augmented reality landscape starting Feb. 26 to celebrate Pokemon's 21st birthday. However, players are complaining about not seeing any Party Hat Pikachu until now.
Niantic announced last week that players can catch a Pikachu with a party hat starting Feb. 26 until March 6. Unfortunately, "Pokemon Go" fans cannot find any of these electric mice, allegedly because of their very low spawn rates.
Since the announcement, fans have looked forward to the Party Hat Pikachu, especially since it was teased to be almost similar to the Santa Hat Pikachu that was introduced in the Christmas season last year. But while players hoped that the Party Hat Pikachu would have normal spawn rates as well, it looks like it is not the case for most Trainers.
To vent out their frustrations over the game, fans have been posting on the "Pokemon Go" subreddit to ask Niantic to raise the Festive Pikachu spawn rate so they could catch a glimpse of at least one Party Hat Pikachu.
One Redditor said, "I've actually seen less Pikachu since the event started. Even if they were out of the way, I would occasionally at least see them nearby from time to time." Another said that for an event as big as Pokemon Day, not seeing a Party Hat Pikachu is "a slap in the face."
Some fans claim that Niantic may have designed the Pikachu to have a low spawn rate, and that must be the reason why nobody can find the Party Hat Pikachu until now.
Niantic has yet to address the complaints of "Pokemon Go" players. Stay tuned for more updates.
