'Pokémon Go' Evee Evolution Rumors: Additional Requirement for Evolving Eevee Into Espeon or Umbreon Using Buddy Pokemon Method
Naming trick can also be used to produce Espeons and Umbreons inside 'Pokémon Go'
"Pokémon Go" players likely already know what they need to do in order to turn their Eevee into an Espeon or an Umbreon, but what they may be unaware of is a certain requirement that when left unfulfilled can lead to their Eeveelution plans being derailed.
This requirement only comes into play whenever a trainer attempts to obtain either of the Gen 2 Eeveelutions while using the Buddy Pokémon method.
For those who may be unaware, the Buddy Pokémon Eeveelution method involves designating the Eevee as the Buddy Pokémon and then walking more than 10 kilometers with it. Once that is done, players can get an Espeon if they choose to evolve the Eevee during the day or an Umbreon if they do so during the night.
Several "Pokémon Go" players have tried out this trick and have successfully received the Eeveelution they wanted. However, there are also those who didn't, and now, a reason for why this trick may not work has apparently been discovered.
In a recent post on r/TheSilphRoad Subreddit, "juw177" noticed that location services apparently need to be turned on in order for this Eeveelution trick to work. It seems the app itself won't notice what time of day it is if the location services are not turned on, and so, the trick cannot work as intended as well.
Instead of getting their desired Gen 2 Eeveelution, players may end up with the earlier Eeveelutions.
Also, if players are still having trouble making this Buddy Pokémon method work then they can go ahead and use the naming trick that involves bestowing the name "Sakura" upon the Eevee to turn it into an Espeon or giving the creature the name "Tamao" to have it evolve into an Umbreon.
