'Pokémon GO' Nest Migration 17: Changes Coincide With Niantic's In-Game Water Festival

In order to maintain a high interest, Niantic Labs has been making sure to keep gameplay somewhat fresh by adding new features and holding in-game events. One of these features is the nest migration.

For those who are unaware, a nest is a location where the chance that a certain type of Pokémon is likely to spawn is high. Similar to the animal world, it is usually where a lot of the same Pokémon can be found. However, Niantic shuffles the nests around every two weeks to avoid dormancy. This is called nest migration.

The most recent nest migration is the 17th one. Some nests have changed, while others have remained the same. And thanks to The Silph Road and its dedicated contributors, it is easier for trainers to find out which locations are nests for certain types of Pokémon. The map on the website shows a real-world map which players can consult. It shows markers where nests are located.

"Pokémon GO" trainers have also taken to Reddit to share their latest finds, which is very helpful to the gaming community. It is important for trainers to pay attention to the verification date, though. If the nest was verified on or after March 23, then there is a big chance that it is still reliable.

Niantic is also currently having an in-game event where water Pokémon have a higher spawn rate in the wild. The event, a global Water Festival, will last until March 29, 2017 at 1 p.m. PDT (4 p.m. EDT). For this limited time, Pokémon like Squirtle, Totodile, Magikarp and their evolutions are more frequent. Trainers also got treated to a new Magikarp hat.

Speaking of Magikarp, Niantic has revealed the release of golden Magikarp in the wild. Some players have already been able to catch them, but others have yet to be so lucky. The new shiny Magikarp is available worldwide, so trainers should keep an eye out for them.

Niantic is definitely upping the ante when it comes to new game features. It is expected that more events will take place as the months go by.
