'Pokémon Go' News: A Halloween-Themed Event Will Go Live Later This Month

Last year's Halloween event featured more Candy and specific Pokémon spawning more frequently

This is the time of the year when people start to get excited about Halloween, and many game developers feel that way too. The Halloween-themed event has become a staple in gaming, and there will also be one taking place inside "Pokémon Go" later this month.

A new post on Pokemon.com detailed some of the things fans can look forward to in the lead up to the spooky holiday.

The post hinted that "plenty of good stuff is coming to the game later this October," though more specific details about what the new event will feature have not been provided.

This will not be the first Halloween-themed event for the augmented-reality game.

As many players will likely remember, there was a Halloween event that also went live last year.

The 2016 event hiked up the spawn rates for particular Pokémon. While the event was live, players could go into the wild and find that the poison-type Pokémon known as Zubat and Golbat were flying around more often and the same applied to the ghost-type creatures Gastly, Haunter and Gengar. The event also made it easier for players to encounter the psychic-type Pokémon Drowzee and Hypno.

On top of that, "Pokémon Go" players could also receive double the amount of Candy whenever they caught, hatched and transferred Pokémon during the event. Buddy Pokémon could also help players earn additional Candy.

Developers could run those things back again for the 2017 edition of the Halloween event, though they may have to increase spawn rates for a few more creatures this time around.

It is also worth noting that last year's festivities began on Oct. 26, so players may want to check in around that time to see if the event has gone live.

More news about "Pokémon Go" should be made available in the near future.
