'Pokémon Go' News: Additional Details About What Trading Could Be Like Revealed, May Still Be Based on Player Location
Still no date set for when trading may be added to 'Pokémon Go'
A trading feature is expected to eventually be released for "Pokémon Go," but there's a chance that this particular addition may not be exactly what many players want it to be.
Speaking recently to Polygon at the Game Developers Conference, senior product manager for Niantic Tatsuo Nomura shared that trades inside this mobile game won't be carried out through the internet.
Instead, Nomura noted that where players are located will still be taken into account when it comes to trading, hinting that players may still need to be in proximity of each other if they want to successfully complete a trade.
This may come as potentially disappointing news to players who are hoping that trading will eventually solve some issues they have had when it comes to trying to collect all the Pokémon inside the game.
Specifically, if the trading feature that is implemented inside "Pokémon Go" is still based in some way on player location, then that may mean that region-specific Pokémon will still remain out of reach for many people.
In the interview, Nomura mentioned that trading is not really meant to provide a workaround for that issue. It seems that if players want to acquire those region-specific Pokémon, they may still need to make the trip to those particular places or perhaps meet up with someone who has the desired Pokémon and negotiate a trade with them, though that too may still end up involving some traveling anyway.
It's unclear just how players will react if the kind of trading feature being described by Nomura really does end up as the one added to the game.
Speaking of which, there is no date set for when a full-fledged trading component may be added to "Pokémon Go," so players will have to continue watching out for that along with more specific details about this feature in the future.
