'Pokémon Go' News: New Game Details Announced; Release Date Still Unconfirmed
Fans have more concrete things to look forward to with "Pokémon Go," since Niantic confirmed some important game details. Unfortunately, even with the good news about the game that was just released, there is still NO confirmed date for the much-awaited game.
During their interview with Venture Beat, Niantic Lab's chief executive officer, John Hanke, and chief marketing officer, Mike Quigley, told that their company aims for "Pokémon Go" players to go out to places where they can interact in the real world. "Those are core to everything we do. The places that you'll interact with in the real world — historical sites, artwork, prominent or special local businesses, those will play a role in 'Pokémon Go' just as they would for us," Hanke said.
This way, people can explore their town or city, and visit places they have never seen before. He also said that there may be benefits for those who look in their city in every nook or cranny, besides finding a new Pokémon. "Measuring how far people have walked and all of that will have specific payoffs for players in 'Pokémon Go,'" he teased.
With regard to the types of Pokémons that will be released, the chief executive was also generous to share some information. "Pokémon will live in different parts of the world depending on what type of Pokémon they are. Water Pokémon will live near the water. It may be that certain Pokémon will only exist in certain parts of the world. Very rare Pokémon may exist in very few places," Hanke shared.
For those who won't be able to travel, the good news is that you can always trade with someone from the game. He said you can always trade, especially if you have a lot of a certain type of Pokémons, and you can do that in events, which is what they do with their current game, "Ingress." "We have these Ingress events that are getting bigger and bigger. We'll have our biggest weekend ever on Saturday," Hanke said.
Game Rant said that all of these plans seem to be an "ambitious claim to make," but the website believes that since "Pokémon" has always had a strong following, loyal fans will always back their favorite game franchise.
"Pokémon Go" will be released next year in iOS and Android devices.
