'Pokémon GO' News: Pokemon Day Launches; Fans Can Keep Festive Pikachu for Life
Pokémon Day has finally kicked off! "Pokémon GO" players can now join the celebration for the 21st anniversary of the games. Here's everything fans need to know about the highly anticipated celebrations.
According to GameSpot, Niantic has decided to celebrate Pokémon Day inside "Pokémon GO." Fans will start seeing festive Pikachu. The said Pikachu will feature a festive party hat that's been set to celebrate the big event. The good news is, fans will be able to keep the festive Pikachu that they catch.
Usually, themed creatures will lose hats that they were donning during "Pokémon GO" events. However, this particular event will allow fans to keep every Pikachu that features a festive hat even after the event comes to an end. This is good news for players who loved the Christmas Pikachu during the holidays.
The Pokémon Company's official website has detailed everything that fans should expect from Pokémon Day. Aside from festive Pikachu lurking around, fans will also have the chance to get the Gallery Figures collection. The set can be obtained from the Pokémon Center. The collection includes Magikarp, Mew, Eevee and Pikachu.
Fans who aren't playing "Pokémon GO" can also celebrate Pokémon Day outside of the game. The event will commemorate the theater success of the Pokémon movie franchise. A movie marathon will be launched and the films to watch include "Pokémon 4Ever" and "Pokémon: The First Movie."
The movie marathon will kick off on Pokémon TV. The films will only be available for a limited time so fans are encouraged to watch the movies while they are up. These films are will also be up on the Pokémon website as well as the Pokémon TV mobile app.
