Pokemon GO Plus Gets July 31st Release Date in US While UK Launch is August 2016; Preorder Product Page on Amazon
After the phenomenal success and reception of Niantic's Pokemon GO, here comes a device that is sure to take another sweep of the market, targeting those who want to boost the gaming experience and get an edge while playing. Pokemon GO Plus is just around the corner and will soon be an accompanying device for every player.
Pokemon Go Plus is a simple wristband that connects to smartphones via low energy Bluetooth. The best thing about this device is the ability to notify the user that there is a Pokemon nearby through LED flashes and vibration, eliminating the need to constantly look into the phone's display instead.
Players can also capture Pokemons by pressing a button in the device but this is possible only for those creatures who are already in the player's Pokedex. Otherwise, the player still needs to use smartphone to capture those never-before encountered Pokemons.
The Pokemon Go Plus will also blink and vibrate whenever a player is within PokeStop range. Searching for items and adding them to the player's inventory is also possible through this device.
Pokemon Go Plus will bring an edge to the game, especially the convenience of wearing it at the wrist instead of constantly checking the smartphone. The biggest drawback however is the absence of a display screen that is necessary to check the status of the game or the creature hunt, secondly, Pokemon Go Plus is not really a standalone device but rather a support only for smartphones.
Unconfirmed reports also said that Pokemon Go Plus will initially be sold for Apple iOS 8 or higher device only. The developers are still working on connectability to Android-based phones. Further, there is an anticipated high-demand for the device during the initial run so the UK market will limit the purchase to one device per customer, no such restrictions have been reported in the US however.
Reports state that the Plus devices will be releasing in the United States on July 31, just few sleepless nights to go, while United Kingdom market still has to wait until end of August. Both markest will sell the product at more or less $35 per piece. The design of Plus device looks like a Pokeball shaped into a Google Maps pin and it weighs 13 grams.
