'Pokémon Go' Gen 2 Pokémon May Be Revealed Soon, According to Recent Datamining Effort

Recent datamine apparently shows that Chikorita may be ready to be released inside 'Pokémon Go'

"Pokémon Go" players are consistently on the lookout for the new features that may be coming to the mobile game, and a recent datamining effort seems to have shed some light on what these upcoming additions could be.

Notably, details about these Gen 2 Pokémon were already discovered last year, with  The Silph Road noting in an earlier article that was published in November that a number of references to these creatures were already included in the game's files even back then.

It is worth noting that these Gen 2 Pokémon were apparently not fully fleshed out when they were found last year, but that has apparently changed.

The folks over at SlashGear were the ones who conducted the more recent data dive, and apparently, they uncovered new information related to additional Pokémon.

Specifically, the website reported that the "entire index of 251 is nearly ready to roll," which would suggest that Gen 2 Pokémon are being prepared for their official debuts.

That's not all, however, as there is apparently one specific Gen 2 Pokémon that may be ready to be released at this moment. The website revealed that the moves and even the pieces of candy needed for Chikorita's evolutionary forms are already inside "Pokémon Go's" files.

So does this mean that players will be able to find Chikorita any day now?

The website predicted that a March reveal could be set up for Chikorita, but it wouldn't be that surprising if developers held off on doing that until they can release a larger batch of Gen 2 Pokémon all at the same time.

Given that they are already closer now to getting all these Gen 2 Pokémon ready to roll out, the developers could just release them as part of one big update in an attempt to draw more attention to the game and perhaps even lure back players who may have grown tired of it.

More news about the Gen 2 Pokémon and when exactly more of them will be released inside "Pokémon Go" should be made available soon.
