'Pokémon Go' Rumors: Gen 3 Ghost Pokémon Now in the Game, Are Their Shiny Variants Included Too?

Five new Gen 3 Pokémon added for the Halloween event

Following weeks of speculation and in the wake of numerous data mining discoveries, developers finally announced that "Pokémon Go" is now home to Gen 3 Pokémon.

To be more specific, developers confirmed that five new Gen 3 ghost-type Pokémon are now present in the game just in time for Halloween.

The five new Pokémon in question are Banette, Dusclops, Duskull, Sableye and Shuppet.

Many players have already expressed their excitement over those new Gen 3 Pokémon finally being added to the game, though there may even be more creatures for them to look for.

Just a little before the official announcement of the Halloween event was issued, more than a few data miners looked through the game's files and found several interesting things.

Among those interesting finds were some sprites for Shiny Pokémon.

This post on the r/TheSilphRoad subreddit from "Chrales" includes a link to an image that shows the aforementioned Shiny sprites. As "Pokémon Go" players can see, there are Shiny variants for the five Gen 3 Pokémon who have just been added to the game.

It is worth noting here that the developers did not confirm the presence of the new Shiny Pokémon, but as Redditor "Ben77777" pointed out, there was no official announcement at first too for the addition of the Shiny Magikarp. Developers only acknowledged the presence of the Shiny Magikarp after a few players had already stumbled upon them.

Players should also know that encounters with Shiny Pokémon are quite rare, so even if they are in the game right now, it is far from guaranteed that they will be seen right away.

One more thing, while only those five Gen 3 Pokémon are in the game as of the moment, there are more creatures from that generation expected to be introduced starting in December.

More news about the new creatures coming to "Pokémon Go" should be made available soon.
