'Pokémon Go' Rumors: Which New Features May Be Included in the 'Major' Updates Planned To Be Released This Year?
Upcoming 'major' 'Pokémon Go' updates expected to be on par with the Gen 2 update released just recently
The version of "Pokémon Go" available right now is significantly different from the one released on launch day, and there's a good chance that this one will also be quite dissimilar from the version that will be playable at the end of this year.
That's because Niantic CEO John Hanke recently shared that some big additions are coming to the augmented reality game before the end of 2017.
A new post from Redditor "Dronpes" featured on the r/TheSilphRoad Subreddit summarizes the comments Hanke delivered during an appearance at the Mobile World Congress.
According to Hanke, there are still two more "major" updates planned for "Pokémon Go" this year.
On top of that, Hanke also shared that the Gen 2 released not too long ago was the "first major update."
What that means is that the two more "major" updates that are possibly coming this year will be on the same level as the Gen 2 update, but even with that cleared up, it's still hard to determine exactly which features the developers are planning to release, though some players who commented on the Reddit post have put forth some interesting suggestions.
Redditor "dappled63" pointed out that with Gen 2 Pokémon now in the game, it may not take that long before Gen 3 creatures are added as well.
Redditor "Raijinsouu" had a different idea, musing that it may be time for the developers to update the maps and bring some new quests and NPCs into the mix.
One more thing, "Dronpes" also mentioned in the post that trading is apparently not a "top priority" right now for the developers, so even if this feature is included in one of those "major" updates, it may still be a while before it is fully implemented.
Big things appear to be in store for "Pokémon Go" for the rest of this year, and more details about how this mobile game could change further should be made available soon.
