'Pokémon' Movie Synopsis: 'I Choose You' Explores Ash's Journey Before Meeting Pikachu
Earlier this year, it was announced that the upcoming "Pokémon" movie would feature flashbacks focusing on Ash and Pikachu. Aside from that, other details about the movie have mostly been a mystery to fans. Fortunately, The Pokémon Company has finally released the synopsis and a new teaser trailer for the "Pokémon" movie, getting fans clued up on what to expect from the upcoming film.
As the movie explores the earliest days of Pikachu and Ash's friendship, fans will get to see Ash return to his classic outfit. It was also reported that the movie will involve the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh, which would pave the way for Ash and Pikachu's first encounter. The full synopsis for "Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You" reveals that the movie will also explore Ash's Pokémon journey way before he became friends with Pikachu.
The trailer for the upcoming movie shows Pikachu and Ash collaborating with two trainers who have Pokémon from "Pokémon Diamond and Pearl" as their partner Pokémon in finding Ho-Oh and becoming "Heroes of the Rainbow."
The new clip also offers a glimpse of Ash's Butterfree and Charmander, indicating that fans will get to see a few of the character's older Pokémon that they haven't seen in years.
Based on the official synopsis for "Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You," the movie will open with Ash learning on his 10th birthday that he is finally qualified to become a Pokémon trainer. While he is excited to be given a Pokémon to become his partner at Oak Laboratories, he unintentionally oversleeps and ends up with a single Pikachu.
Ash and his newfound friend set out on their quest to reach the Legendary Pokémon Ho-Oh. As an opponent appears before them on Mount Tensei, their adventure as partners begins.
The Pokémon Company has yet to announce the release date for "Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You."
