'Pokemon the Movie XY & Z' to Feature New Mythical Pokemon Magearna
"Pokemon the Movie XY & Z" will feature a new Mythical Pokemon called Magearna, based on an announcement on Sunday.
The Pokemon Company International revealed the plot for the upcoming film "The Pokemon the Movie XY & Z: Volcanion to Karakuri no Magearna" (Pokemon the Movie XY & Z: Volcanion and the Tricky Magearna). The company also released a description of Magearna, according to Anime News Network.
The upcoming movie will be the 19th installment of the Pokemon theatrical releases. The script will be written by Atsuhiro Tomioka and the movie will be directed by Kunihiko Yuyama. The film will serve as the debut of the new Pokemons Volcanion and Magearna, the Lawyer Herald reports.
Based on the company's announcement, Magearna is an Artificial Pokemon that humans created 500 years ago. The creature sports a metallic body and stands 3 ft. 3 in. tall and weighs 177.5 lbs, the report relays.
The metallic bipedal Pokemon was first leaked in CoroCoro magazine's March issue which came out on Feb. 10. The character is not yet available in Pokemon video games.
In addition, the company revealed that Magearna will play a major role in "Pokemon the Movie XY & Z." In the full-length feature film, Ash will be mysteriously bound with the Mythical Pokemon Volcanion as it falls from the sky.
Volcanion, on the other hand, is a maroon Fire/Water Mythical Pokemon with blue and yellow markings. The creature has bright blue eyes, large pointed ears, and arm-like canons on its back, the report details.
Volcanion and Ash will come across a city of cogs and gears wherein the Artificial Pokemon Magearna has been stolen by an evil minister. The minister aims to use the Pokemon's power to control the Azoth Kingdom. Ash and Volcanion will embark on a mission to rescue Magearna from the corrupt minister's evil plan. Fans are expected to witness a great battle unfold in the movie.
"Pokemon the Movie XY & Z" is set to premiere in Japan on July 16.
