'Pokkén Tournament' on Wii U: New Trailer and Japan Bundle Released
Nintendo has released a new trailer (below) for its upcoming game, "Pokken Tournament." Japanese gamers anticipating the release will also have a chance to buy a unique controller along with the game.
Nintendo is preparing "Pokken Tournament's" debut on the Wii U. Earlier this week, the Japanese company released the upcoming game's introduction trailer.
The game was initially released for arcade and features Pokemons battling in an arena similar in style to other fighting games like "Tekken." In the new trailer, Nintendo confirms its current lineup of Pokemons in the game.
Nintendo's "Pokken Tournament" currently includes Pikachu, Pikachu Libre, Machamp, Blaziken, Gardevoir, Lucario, Weavile, Gengar, Charizard, Suicune, and Shadow Mewtwo. In the video, gamers can see glimpses of these Pokemons doing some attacks.
The introduction trailer also features four Pokemons briefly. Lapras can be seen in Weavil's battle against Machamp, Snivy in Lucario vs. Suicune's match, Froakie in Suicune vs. Gardevoir's battle, and Fennekin in Pikachu Libre vs. Machamps' match.
Although they don't appear in the introduction trailer, Nintendo has also previously confirmed five other Pokemons to appear in "Pokken Tournament's" roster, namely Rotom, Togekiss, Dragonite, Victini, and Sceptile.
The footage also gives gamers sneak peeks at a number of arenas where the battle tournaments will be held. There's a wrestling ring and another one in an open coliseum. There are also a couple of fights held in a city or town streets and even in the countryside.
Toward the end of the trailer, Nintendo reminds gamers about the amiibo card for Shadow Mewtwo, which will be included in first-print orders of the "Pokken Tournament" Wii U bundle. The bundle is one of several options available for Japanese gamers to choose from when the game releases in a couple of months.
The "Pokken Tournament" Wii U bundle is also reportedly going to include a special controller. Pokemon-centric publication Serebii spotted the controller, which is modeled after or inspired by the arcade machine controller. It is wired and does not have analog sticks but instead has a directional pad, four action buttons, and buttons labeled "ZL" and "ZR." This unique controller will be available in Japan.
As for the bundle itself, it will sell for 36,800 yen. A black set is also available.
Finally, the trailer confirms the game's release date in Japan as being March 18, 2016. No Western release date was teased or confirmed in the latest trailer, but the game is expected to release in North America and Europe sometime in spring next year.
