'Pokken Tournament' Will Support All Amiibo
Good news for fans of Nintendo's upcoming fighting game "Pokken Tournament." The title will come with full amiibo support.
In the official amiibo page for "Pokken Tournament," Nintendo reveals that the game will be "compatible with all amiibo accessories unlocking in-game items." Industry followers have assumed this to mean that the game will support all other amiibo, in addition to the amiibo card revealed previously.
As early as November, Nintendo had made known to fans that the game will feature amiibo compatibility. "Pokken Tournament" will have a special Mewtwo amiibo card that will be available to buyers of the game's first edition. Players can use the amiibo card to unlock Shadow Mewtwo as a playable character at the start of the game. Without the amiibo, players need to fulfill certain conditions before the Pokemon can be unlocked.

The company has not revealed any other details, though, so fans will have to wait for further announcements regarding which amiibo can unlock what specific item in the game. In the past, Nintendo used unrelated amiibo to provide players with special in-game bonuses such as weapons, rupees, and crafting material in "Hyrule Warriors."
The Nintendo Wii U-exclusive game will release in roughly a month's time. It features Pokemons fighting in matches similar to "Tekken."
The latest Pokemon that joined the game's roster of fighters is Chandelure, a Ghost and Fire-type Pokemon. Before that, Braixen, Mewtwo, and Garchomp were leaked in an issue of CoroCoro Comic, a monthly manga magazine circulating in Japan. Other playable characters include Shadow Mewtwo, Sceptile, Pikachu, Pickachu Libre, Charizard, Machamp, Weavile, Lucario, Gengar, Gardevoir, and Blaziken.
"Pokken Tournament" is currently available in arcades in Japan but will come to the Wii U on March 18 in Japan, North America, and Europe. The special Shadow Mewtwo amiibo will also release on the same date.
