Pope Benedict XVI was officially installed on Sunday, April 25, at the first official public Mass of his papacy.
The installation comes after three weeks of much activity in the Vatican following the Pope John Paul II's death.
Sunday's installation placed the reigns of the Roman Catholic church in it's new shepherd's hands.
Accordingly, during the homily, Pope Benedict asked for the faithful to "pray for me."
He said he had an "enormous task, which truly exceeds all human capacity." He expressed hope that he would be supported in his new office, saying, that "... your prayers, my dear friends, your indulgence, your love, your faith and your hope accompany me. "
After the Mass, he boarded a "pope-mobile" without bullet proof glass and greeted those in attendance at a much closer distance.
