Porsha Apologizes for Assaulting Kenya Moore in RHOA Fight But Maintains 'I Was Bullied' (VIDEO)

"Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Porsha Williams issued a public apology for her assault on her co-star Kenya Moore during the season 6 reunion show taping.

On Tuesday Williams, who is the granddaughter of civil rights leader Hosea Williams, conceded that "violence is not the answer" and thanked her fans for ongoing support. In recent weeks the Bravo TV star, 31, was booked on misdemeanor battery charges after Moore filed a police report relating to the March assault.

During part 1 of the season 6 reunion show, viewers saw an enraged Williams lunge at Moore during a heated exchange and subsequently sent home by Bravo TV honcho Andy Cohen for resorting to violence.

In a newly released statement, she opened up about enduring physical abuse which could in essence help critics better understand what occurred between her and Moore.

"I suffered severe bullying since I was a child, to the extent of contemplating suicide and was also physically and mentally abused in my marriage," Williams - who finalized her divorce from former NFL player Kordell Stewart in December - told Us magazine.

"Throughout the season on Real Housewives I was manipulated and bullied and at the reunion taping when emotions were heightened I was pushed too far with objects waved in my face and my personal space was continuously violated, and I reacted in a way which I am not proud of," she continued.

Footage of the incident showed Moore being pushed to the ground by Williams, who at one point was also seen pulling the former Miss USA's hair.

"Violence is not the answer and I want to apologize to my fans, the viewers and the other ladies for my behavior," Williams went on.

"For the thousands of supporters that have stuck by me I thank you immensely and encourage you to donate to shelters for abused woman and support charities that stop bullying," she added.

Williams was sent home by Cohen in the midst of filming and therefore the remainder of the reunion show took place without her. Last week unconfirmed reports claimed she is now on the chopping block due to her violent behavior and is unlikely to return in season 7.

"As I mentioned on the show I am embarrassed of my reaction and the way that I handled the provocation and I am dedicated to helping others learn appropriate ways to cope with bullies and abusers and from this experience I hope to continue on a path of personal and spiritual growth," she said.

Moore recently blasted Williams for "blacking out" and resorting to violence in her own lengthy statement.

"My intellect and my brain are my most powerful weapons -- not my fists,"Moore sniped.
