Porsha Stewart Divorce Finalized; Kordell Glad 'Real Housewives' Star is Reverting Back to Maiden Name
Porsha Stewart and her estranged husband Kordell finalize their divorce on Thursday and the former Pittsburgh Steelers star appeared to take final jabs at the reality TV star.
In a statement obtained by TMZ.com, Kordell's attorney revealed that his client is disappointed that his marriage to Porsha, 32, failed, however he is hopeful that she will finally move forward in a more positive light. The father of- ne, 41, accused the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star of "vilifying" him in the press following their March separation and he wants it to stop.
"For reasons we cannot understand, [Porsha] displayed a reckless abandonment of anything close to the truth over the last eight months," Kordell's attorney Shiel Edlin told TMZ.
"We are also hopeful that Porsha will stop vilifying Kordell at every opportunity," he revealed. He added that the former NFL star is "very disappointed" that the marriage fell apart, because he expected to be 'married for life.'"
The statement follows recent comments made by Porsha alluding to recurring rumors surrounding Kordell's sexuality. On a recent episode of "Real Housewives" she openly admitted that at times throughout her two-year marriage she had doubts about her husband.
"There were definitely times in the marriage that Kordell didn't necessarily want me, physically, and that made me wonder, what does he want?" Porsha said on the hit reality TV show.
"When we first got together, I asked him about rumors of him being gay, because family members were bringing it up to me and friends were asking me about it, and he explained it away ... I didn't question whether he was gay or not because someone else said it. Any reasons that I questioned it were things I had experienced or seen," she explained.
In March, Porsha, who is the granddaughter of civil rights leader Hosea Williams, was left blindsided when she discovered on Twitter that Kordell had filed for divorce after two years of marriage.
In recent weeks it was claimed that the Bravo TV star was considering keeping Kordell's last name, which she took following their 2011 nuptials. It now appears as though she will revert back to her maiden name Williams and Kordell is vontent with her decision.
"Kordell was very concerned about the damage it could cause however, she reconsidered and decided to restore her maiden name, Williams," Edlin said.
"Kordell now believes he can restore the Stewart name and brand, for which it has been known through many generations, one of character, integrity, honesty and truthfulness," he added.
