Porsha Williams Says 'God Is Amazing' After Being 'Blindsided' by 'RHOA' Demotion
Porsha Williams, 33, insists she was blindsided from her demotion on "Real Housewives of Atlanta" where she will no longer be a leading cast member on the Bravo TV reality series.
While Williams is working on an album and serving as an entertainment correspondent for the Dish Nation syndicated radio show, she rose to popularity when joining the cast of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" in its fifth season. After a turbulent sixth season where Williams dealt with a public divorce from ex-NFL player Kordell Stewart and initiated a physical confrontation with cast member Kenya Moore, the former showed up to film a seventh season.
However, she recently learned that newcomer Claudia Jordan would join the cast with a leading role this November, while Williams would only appear as a friend on the show. Williams said she was blindsided by the news, which was not easy for her to take in.
"This is not an easy time for me right now, but I want to let everyone to know that I loved being a 'Housewife' on 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta,' and I am thankful for Bravo for the opportunity, but it's not goodbye, you will see me on the show throughout the season sharing and bonding with the other women and I promise to stay connected with my fans as I start an exciting new time in my life," Williams said on Dish Nation. "After a long season of filming, and giving my all, I was blindsided by the announcement from the network that I was demoted from 'Housewife status,' but would remain on the show in a 'friend' capacity."
Still, Williams made sure to give glory to God, despite the unfavorable news.
"Unfortunately, I can only be PORSHA, and portraying anything else, would not be genuine nor honest. This moment is bittersweet, but God has been so amazing to me, and I think this is a perfect time for me to spread my wings, and finally focus on all of my upcoming projects," she told Dish Nation. "In addition to having my recurring role on RHOA, I will be able to focus my attention on my career as an entertainment correspondent on Dish Nation on the Fox Network, recording my album, building my businesses, and taking baby steps toward nurturing my relationship with my new love!"
Williams first took to Instagram to announce her departure from the show, but insisted she is still blessed.
"No more peach for me, but I still love checking in with my girls #Blessed #SomethingMajor #JustHereToSlay #TeamPorsha," Williams wrote on Instagram earlier this week.
