'Power Rangers' News: Director Says Film Will Be More Mature But Playful

Last month, it was reported that the "Power Rangers" reboot movie has been pushed back to January 2017, instead of earlier plans to release it in 2016. It was also reported that the change in schedule may be mainly due to the lineup of competitors the film will have if it were released in summer of 2016.

Despite the delayed release, however, all other news about the movie points to some significant progress in development. That same month, a director was confirmed in the person of Dean Israelite, as well as scriptwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stenz, who also penned "Thor" and "X-Men: First Class."

More recently, its director Dean Israelite revealed some details about the upcoming in an interview with IGN. Without going into much detail about the plot, he shared that the script was "really cool, contemporary, mature but still playful, buoyant and fun take on the material." He also surprised by the fact that it was "updated."
