The winning combination for the previous draw was 23-29-37-60-64, Powerball 6 and Powerplay 2x, Powerball announced on its website. Though there was no jackpot winner, two Match 5 winners from Florida and Virginia won $1 million each. The Florida player even added the Powerplay option and increased the winnings to $2 million.

Just like Powerball, the top winning for the Mega Millions lottery has also been climbing and now has reached $415 million. 24/7 Wall St. mentioned that the combined jackpot prize for the two games is now more than $650 million.

Game Mechanics

Draws for Powerball happens every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. In October last year, the lottery game announced a bigger jackpot prize with a change in game mechanics. That five white balls are now taken from a batch of 69 balls while a red ball is drawn from 26 red balls.

A jackpot winner is determined if all these numbers match the bet of a player even in no particular order. The second-biggest winning ($1 million) can be taken home if a player gets all the numbers on the five balls drawn.

What is the Power Play Feature?

To increase non-jackpot winnings, players can also add the Power Play feature, which can increase the prize amount to as much as five times it original value. The add-on can be purchased for $1 which is separate from the $2 payment for each ticket of Powerball. In October last year, Powerball even added a 10x multiplier which gave players the chance to win $150 million.

What if I Win?

If a player wins the jackpot, Powerball said that the lucky bettor could choose to receive an initial payment with the remaining amount to be paid once every year in a span of 29 years. There is also the cash option, where a player would only need to pay the tax and get the entire jackpot prize amount in cash.

For the installment basis, the lottery game said that they would invest the remaining payment to increase the annual amount given to the winner by 5 percent each year. This move was done to support the increase of the cost of living of the bettor.
