No one won the $82-million jackpot in the previous Powerball drawing last Saturday, Aug. 13. There was one ticket holder who matched all 5 white balls and won $1 million. However, they missed out on the chance of doubling their winnings because they did not opt for the PowerPlay option.
According to MLive, the winning $1M ticket was sold in Georgia. There was also one player who matched four white balls and the red Powerball, winning $50,000. There were nearly 600,000 non-jackpot prize winners in the last Powerball drawing. The prizes amounted to more than $4,700,000.
$1M Powerball Winning Ticket Due to Expire Aug. 18
There is a $1M Powerball winning ticket that is due to expire on August 18 if the winner doesn't step up to claim their prize by then. Blasting News reports that the ticket was sold in Connecticut and state lottery officials are looking for the winner by calling out players to check their old Powerball tickets.
The drawing date of the winning Powerball ticket was on February 20. The winning numbers were 11, 12, 15, 16, 54 and the red Powerball number is 25. The winner has only 180 days to claim their prize before it is forfeited by the lottery.
Powerball Drawing for August 17
The next Powerball drawing will be on Wednesday, August 17. The estimated jackpot is $94-million with a $66-million cash value. The Powerball drawings are done every Wednesday and Saturday at 11 PM ET. Five white balls labeled 1 to 69 are drawn out from a drum and a red ball is drawn from a drum of balls labeled 1 to 26, according to the official Powerball website.
The player will win the jackpot prize by matching all five white balls and the red Powerball. There are 9 ways to win and the prizes range from the jackpot prize to a minimum of $4. In an occasion where the player has won the top prize, there are two options to claim the prize: they can either get the annuity option where the prize is split in 30 payments yearly or the cash value option where they get all their winnings minus the tax.
