Prayer on the Information Superhighway
PeoplePray.com, a non-profit organization based in Portland, Ore., officially launched Wednesday, offering a place for people around the world to receive and give intercessory prayers.
The site, dubbed the Intercession SuperHighway, is described as a comprehensive web site aimed at connecting Gods people in prayer as well as an online prayer community created to aid believers in consistent, effective prayer.
The website is not the first prayer site to come out, but its simplistic functionality is aimed at allowing every person who has internet to participate in worldwide prayer.
We want to strongly encourage our community to not only pray locally but to broaden that horizon to include national and international events and leaders, says Jason Nuss, president of PeoplePray.com, in a statement. Intercession should not be limited but rather expanded to induce real change on a global scale.
The sites mission is to merge technology with faith, permitting a worldwide union of intercession which had been limited mostly to local networks before consisting mainly of churches, family, and friends.
The site will have a wide variety of resources for users. People will be able to post their own prayers, whether that be public or private, and also keep a prayer journal which allows clients to mark off answered prayers.
Christians also have the chance to pray for others that participate on the site, and can receive daily email reminders about items on their specific prayer list.
We want users to be encouraged by the PeoplePray community and the answered prayers section is a reminder to all of us that God is always working, says Dave Arthur, vice president of the company, in a statement. When we intercede for others, we appeal to the only one who can truly make a difference.
