Prayer – The Dusty Bazooka
There it sits, unused and collecting dust. Although it is in good working condition few think to use it.
What is the dusty bazooka hidden in the closet? It is prayer.
While the war against "the god of this world" rages all around us, we hunker in our bunkers quivering from the enemy assault. His tanks of temptation circle and attack with ruthless intent and relentless intensity.
But instead of unleashing our secret arsenal of intercession, we throw snowballs and pebbles. Our paltry efforts bounce off of the Prince of Darkness and his army of fallen angels like Nerf pellets fired from a kid's toy gun.
Satan and his legions laugh and keep shooting to kill.
It is only when we reach into our prayer closets to pull out the weapon called prayer that we cause our enemy to quiver in fear. He is not afraid of our strategic plans, shiny ministry pamphlets or theological constructs. But he is absolutely terrified of our intercession, that underutilized and underestimated weapon of righteousness at our daily disposal. As the Apostle Paul remind us,"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." 2 Corinthians 10:3,4
When he attacks, take aim and fire.
When he tempts you, take aim and fire.
When he tries to discourage you, take aim and fire.
The readiness should always be there. Just aim and fire!
Sure prayer does much more than decimate our dangerous enemy. It encourages the soul, replenishes our hearts, builds up our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ and provides for our needs. It is the portal for praise, worship and thanksgiving toward God. Prayer does many things and one of them is to obliterate the enemy who seeks to obliterate us.
So use it. Open up your prayer closet and dust it off. Unleash its mighty force on the devil without mercy. "Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power."
Say hello to my little friend…called prayer.
