Prayers for Terri Continue Despite Heavy Setbacks at Federal and State Courts
Supporters of Terri Schiavo continued to pray for relief despite several setbacks at the federal and state courts Thursday.
The 24-hour prayer vigils that began March 18 the day Schiavos feeding tube was removed continued outside of the Woodside Hospice, even as the U.S. Supreme Court refused to overview the case and Florida judge George Greer rejected Gov. Jeb Bushs bid to intervene.
According to the Associated Press, Terris parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, held onto the slim hope that Gov. Jeb Bush would somehow find a way through executive action, or that a federal judge may hear another emergency request for the feeding tube to be reinserted.
Thursday evening, the Schindlers and their lawyers came to the Tampa courthouse for another hearing before the U.S. District Judge James Whittemore, who earlier that week rejected a request to reattach Terris tube.
"We're just trying to save Terri's life, said the Schindlers lawyer David Gibbs III.
