'Preachers' Daughters' Tackle Dating and Divorce
Preachers' Daughters tackled divorce and dating in the latest episode of the Lifetime network docu-series, and the show's cast members are speaking out about their experiences with both.
While the Colemans and Perrys dealt with the possibility of their daughters dating once again, the Koloffs worked to overcome the divorce that had taken place between the parents in their home.
Taylor Coleman, the 18-year-old daughter of Pastor Ken Coleman of City of Refuge Pentecostal Church in Joliet, Ill., went on a double date with her parents and a young man that she was interested in. Taylor seemed to be gaining her parents' trust after they grilled her date about his celibacy and church attendance. Then the preacher's daughter became frustrated after being scolded by her father for questionable behavior when one church member spoke out about her dancing suggestively with her friends.

Since she was sick of having to succumb to the scrutiny being a preacher's daughter, Taylor snuck out of her window to meet with her love interest unbeknownst to her parents. Pastor Coleman spoke to The Christian Post about the challenges that came along with raising a child in the church with an entire congregation watching closely.
"The biggest challenge is letting your child be who they are and people looking at your child being who she or he may be," Pastor Coleman told CP. "I believe this show is going to show that preachers' daughters have a great challenge and the pastors are trying to help them meet these challenges. The challenge is meeting them where they are because if you close the door on your children, they might not ever open that door again."
Although Taylor introduced a promise ring that served as a symbol of her promise to wait for marriage before engaging in sexual activity, Olivia Perry is no stranger to the concept. Perry, the 18-year-old daughter of Pastor Mark Perry of Everyday Church in Oceano, Calif., introduced her promise ring in the first episode of "Preachers' Daughters."
While her parents invited her male friend Frankie to their home for prayer worship and a follow-up dinner meeting in the latest episode of "Preachers' Daughters," Olivia was unsure if she was ready to date as a young mother who recently overcame a lifestyle focused on partying. She told The Christian Post about the importance of her own promise ring.
"The culture we live in now, it seems like that's not a high value of people to stay pure. I think that people really respected it when I wore it. And I have a new one now," Olivia told CP. "After having Eden, my parents got me one for Christmas again. People really respect it, it's an awesome thing and so I love wearing it because I get the chance to tell people my beliefs and why I think I should wear it."
Kolby Koloff,16, was unsure if she was ready to date after her mother Victoria warned her about the woes of encountering the opposite sex. Her father and preacher Nikita Koloff let his daughters know that he planned to meet with their mother for the first time in seven years after the pair divorced.
Nikita told The Christian Post that he hopes to serve as an example for those people tuning into the show that are dealing with issues in their own broken homes.
"What I hope we do if we do this right is minister to a lot of fathers out there who didn't have a good relationship with their father ... who will see that it is possible to have a good relationship with your children," he said. "The reality is we're going to show a lot of broken homes that through the love of Jesus that we can still make this work in the midst of that set of circumstances."
"Preachers' Daughters" airs on Lifetime network on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
